DAY ONE  We arrived in a sea of mud at the commercial entrance to find where our tent was. Fortunately it turned out to be close to the entrance, and we found a way across the bog for George which was just passable in shoes. Janet and I had our wellies and a change of shoes for when we had set up.  John was directed to the wrong part of the site, and ended up abandoning his car and finding us on foot. However, once all the models were carried across and he was able to fnd a permanent parking spot we were able to set up the display. It doesn't look too bad in the picture below, but by the end of the day the area in front of the table was just a mud patch. Fortunately no-one slipped over in it. The IWA provided the warning tape for us to keep the public at arms length from the table

Inside the tent
Our tent is the blue and white striped one. Next door is a mobile belfry, so we were treated to the sound of church bell ringing all day.

On the other side were five other club SIGs and the club table, here is George Munro's Between-the-Wars SIG display.

Sam Bratby, SIG leader, sat at the Harvard SIG table. The yellow on green reflected in the mirrors made for a very striking display in a small space.

The centre display by Dan Mellor, promoting the idea for a new SIG - Classic American Jets. On the left an impromptu display of the Classic British Jets SIG, on the table space vacated by the South Atlantic SIG which moved to some free space by the Club stand.

Finally the South Atlantic SIG table, with Janet holding the George Read Trophy, normally awarded for the best model at the Heritage Model Show, but presented to the SASIG display for "Several Models".

Models on the table by Nigel Denchfield, George Munro, Janet and Steve Cox from the Club, and SIG members Nick Greenall and Peter French.

and the award for "The member most guilty of self-agrandisment", the Pot-Hunter's Pot, to Janet Cox

The recipients of the awards are normally chosen by the Chairman and Secretary, but as Dave has been recovering from heart surgery as Vice-Chairman I got involved as well. Having made the choices I then collected together the trophies for engraving with a different set of names to that agreed with either Sam or Dave. I also had to keep them secret from the Pot-Hunter's Pot winner as well. Not quite so easy.

In the background Charlie, our new Secretary, organised a special presentation to Sam from all the members of the club, an engraved tankard and plenty to put in it.  Sam has been Secretary for more years than he cares to remember, and will be a hard act to follow
