Our latest SIG came into existence in October 2006, the South Atlantic SIG. This is the second SIG formed that year, the other being the Harvard SIG, run by Sam Bratby.

The display at the Shropshire Model Show, RAF Cosford, 8th April 2008

The display was awarded the trophy for Best Display

Our areas of interest:

• South Atlantic Islands i.e. Ascension; St Helena; Falkland Islands; South Georgia etc.

• The South Atlantic Ocean and Antarctica

Including:

•    Battle of the Falkland Islands 1914
•    Battle of the River Plate 1939
•    Falklands War 1982
•    South Atlantic patrol ships
•    Falkland Islands since 1982

Our main theme for 2008 will be:

Aviation in the Falkland Islands 1931-2008

Events covered include the first flight over the Falklands in 1931; involvement in WW2; the first direct flight to the islands in 1952; civil and military aviation from the 1950's onwards and the development of the Falkland Islands Government Air Service from 1948 to the present day.

Latin American Aviation SIG, (Formerly SIG Argentina)

Following the success of the Argentinian Display at Scale Model World 2002 and the visit of Ricardo Caballero of IPMS Acassuso SIG Argentina was formed. The SIG's area of interest has been expanded to include the whole of South America, and so been renamed. Ricardo visited us again for the 2007 Scale Modelworld show
