72nd Scale Commercial Aircraft SIG The SIG, lead by Simon Lind, is part of the Airliner SIG, and, as the title suggests, caters for any Civil Aircraft as long as it is to 1/72nd Scale. The SIG members tend to favour classic propliners, flyingboats, early jetliners and helicopters, and the more unusual the aircraft or colour-scheme, the better! We try to aspire to the standards set by the serious military modellers but welcome subjects at all levels. Shows that SIG attends include: Huddersfield Southern Expo Midlands Show Brampton, naturally! ScaleModelWorld The theme for the Brampton Show and ScaleModelWorld for 2009 is ‘Rotors and Floaters’ so, as the name suggests, helicopters and flyingboats are to be expected! The SIG has strong links with other Club SIGs and further information may be obtained from Simon Lind at the Brampton Model Club, or Wally Arrowsmith of the Airliner SIG. The Berlin Airlift Display won 2nd place for the Best SIG display, Scale Modelworld 2008. The Croydon Airport display in 1:144 won 1st Place for the Best SIG Display at Scale Model World 2002 and the Shoreham Airport in 1:72 won Best SIG Display at Scale Model World 2005

Happy New Year for 2009.   The recent poor weather has allowed me to get down to some modelling so there should be a few new items from me on the table.   Last year the SIG had table space at nine shows from Perth to Yeovilton and I would like to thank everyone who stopped by for a chat and also those who put models on the table. The SIG was awarded the runners up trophy at the St Ives show, the display being set on a large oval table. The diary is starting to fill up so here are the shows that the SIG will attend this year.   Tyneside Sun 8 Mar  Cosford Sun 5 Apr Hinckley Sun 19 Apr Perth 25 - 26 April St Ives Sun 27 Sep SMW Telford 7 - 8 Nov No sign of a Southdowns show so far this year.
